Honoring the opportunity to participate in a revisiting of such an important cornerstone of modern culture, (in this precise moment of history), we would like with our visual design to add a layer of innovation by combining video and conceptual art, lighting design and dance. The multimedia stage design is intended to recreate the ghost of the ballet but this time the Bad Plus are going to be at center-stage; the "prima donas" having all the other disciplines revolving around them. Taking the musicians out from the pit, the trio will be turn into the actors of a play were the music is a dialogue. A conceptual and theatrical lighting design will support the new "actors" in their roles of narrators. The rhythm and intensity of the music will be constantly echoed by a dynamic lighting pursuit, timed to emphasize the dramatic changes in mood and rhythm throughout the piece. Through visual projections on a large rear screen, the story of the Rite will be drawn in very abstract representation. The projections are treated as video art bits, each one created for a specific moment of the narrative and carefully sequenced in order to help the music tell the story. In the second part, through an artful mix of silhouette and spotlit footage, as part of the visual imagery, Julie Worden, (Mark Morris dancer) will be projected dancing the role of the chosen one, emulating Nijinski's choreography for the Paris premiere in 1913 and closing the different circles created by this project. Always respectful with the original score, the project will try with subtlety to recall the story of the ballet while maximizing the power of the performance by TBP. <img
